 | New to Silver Hill Neighborhood? New to Albuquerque? Here are some telephone numbers, dates and people to note: GARBAGE PICK-UP day is Wednesday. Your residential dumpster needs to be out at the curb by 7:00 in the morning to assure pick-up. For those in large apartment complexes, see your landlord for dumpster dates; they vary. RECYCLING date is same as garbage date. Recycling is usually picked up earlier than trash, so have everything out by 7:00 and you won't be missed! For recycling details, see Recycling - City of Albuquerque.
LARGE ITEM PICK-UP (COUCHES, REFRIGERATORS, ETC.) Call 311 at least 24 hours prior to Wednesday garbage pick-up, and the City of Albuquerque will send a special truck to pick up your item/s. This service is free. The City will NOT pick up without your call, and you/your landlord may be cited for dumping on public property if you just put the stuff out without arranging for its removal.
QUESTIONS ABOUT ANYTHING RELATED TO CITY OF ABQ can be answered by the fantastic folks at 311. Just call. They'll tell you who to call, or they'll make a report for you (graffiti, leaking water lines, problems in the park, etc.)
SILVER HILL NEIGHBORHOOD ASSOCIATION BOARD holds its meetings every 2nd Monday at 7:00 p.m. at the Heights Community Center, 823 Buena Vista SE. This Depression Era building is on the National and State Registers of Historic Places and has recently been restored, with landscaping in progress. Drop by any 2nd Monday to talk to Board members. They value your input and give countless hours to make Silver Hill a great place to live. Come on by!
POLICE (APD) can be reached in three ways: 911 for serious emergencies, 242-COPS for reporting non-emergency crimes (seeing non-violent crimes like drug dealing and prostitution, disturbances after 10:00 pm, concern about a neighbor's safety, etc.), or 256-2050 - the Southeast Substation located on San Mateo and Kathryn SE to discuss general concerns or to offer suggestions. The Silver Hill Neighborhood Association is in regular contact with the officers in the Southeast, particularly with those who work in our neighborhood. You can also let the SHNA know about recurring/systemic problems; they will talk to APD. |
RECYCLING seems to be increasing in Silver Hill, and that's great! For those of you who may not know the drill on recycling, please go to Recycling - City of Albuquerque. Please recycle as much as you can. Let's make the University neighborhoods "walk our talk"!
